Ain't it Great - at 38!

What a weekend! I am overjoyed and thrilled that the weekend went so well. My birthday was Saturday and I stretched it out all weekend long! Friday night I had dinner at my brother and sister-in-law's house.... and oh their gift - kept on giving all weekend... it's an overnight bag/retro 70's tote/bohemian style sack and it was the topic of convo throughout the weekend. Later Friday night I put my present to me together - a very contemporary lamp/ pendant light that I have hung in my living room... That was an ordeal - but I finally got it together after much frustration and prayer! But it is truly a work of art in its style and looks great in my living room.

(Saturday morning my dogs even let me sleep in!) I got up at 8:30 and got ready to go to a late morning breakfast/brunch with my sister Mary. She was sweet and brought some of mom's bells she knew I would like as my gift "from mom" and a couple of books by one of my fav authors. We then went to I-Hop, where we enjoyed a late breakfast and then went shopping at my fav store Target.

Later Saturday evening my girlfriends picked me up and treated me like a Queen. We went to my fav restaurant and laughed and had a great time, then it was on to see "The Other Boleyn Girl." This was an excellent movie and we all went on and on about it. After the movie a few of us went to AppleBees, after which I was home around 11pm... after a wonderful day of great presents and friendship and fellowship time!

Sunday morning I went to church with my brother and sister-in-law and we were able to go to a 9:30 service which put us having a late breakfast at 11:00am. I then met up with a good friend from Lynchburg, Kurt, and we hung out for a late birthday lunch and watched a movie as well. What a day! What a WEEKEND!

Thanks to everyone who contributed to making this one of the best birthdays ever!!!

A Day in the Life

It was another conversation of the embarrassing kind. Kassity and I were watching a fav show, John & Kate Plus Eight; its about a couple whose life is broadcast on television as reality TV about raising their twins and their sextuplets. Well this particular show was about emails that came in from viewers, and they were answering them. One question was "How do John and Kate find time for intimacy?" Kate was embarrassed, and didn't want to answer. Later my daughter, Kassity asked the question, so there are two kinds of s-e-x. I said, "what?" calmly and she repeated the question. I had heard her but wanted some delay time. I had already shared with her that s-e-x, upon her inquiry weeks ago, was for married couples - when she would be much older and that it was to be within the boundary of marriage. So my mind went back to that explanation now when she asked about 2 different kinds. I said very casually, well there is s-e-x within a marriage which is right and then s-e-x outside of marriage; which is wrong. She said "so that's the one with kids." I quickly chimed back, No, no when adults are not married.... Confused, she got frustrated, "but, what about the kids?" I said, "with kids?" to her reply, "Yes like on this show!" She was getting louder and more frustrated with my explanation that was not satisfying her curiosity/inquiry. "On the show!?" I quickly looked at John and Kate and it hit me "SEXTUPLETS!" I said "Yes, they have sextuplets." She then replied, "that's the other kind of S-E-X." "Yes," I said "that's the other kind" smiling.

I was glad when that "moment " was over - but its another I will never forget. smilingly and with a chuckle - and oh so thankfully!
